So last meeting we discussed:
-What candy we're going to sell for fundraisers (I think it's the Sam's Club stuff.)
- We decided that EVERYONE must try to find locations for a car wash, coming up soon since weather is warming up.
-Walk-A-Thon (held at John Prince Park)
• it's within the budget to hold the walk-a-thon @ JP
• Need to find sponsors for food and water
• May want to think about ways of getting some music
• Advertising etc
-Kid events at Palm Springs Library (A great place to sell some cookies)
- During spring break, members will have a chance to volunteer and meet the children we fund raise for and this will count as CAS hours too.
• Find out if we need special permission to take pictures with children
•Set a date when most people can attend this event during spring break.
Last meeting we introduced two new members and had everybody show up for the meeting. Great job everybody! :)
Well keep up the good work and hope to see you all here for next Thursday's meeting.
We have to start taking pictures and posting them soon. So I might take a picture of us in the meeting for visual proof.

ReplyDeleteAlso, whatever happened to the idea of participating in the MS Walk? (I noticed that we didn't talk about it)
One more thing... I just found out that Palm Springs Baptist Church will host an event called the International Spring Festival 2010 on April 3rd. It's sponsored by the Village of Palm Springs and Kiwanis Club of Palm Springs. I'll call the church for more details.
So we'll be selling cookies at this festival right? Make sure it isn't a religious thing that deals with Easter because then it won't count for CAS at all. Try to deviate from churches. Oh okay, mention that at next meeting about the MS walk. I did mention the candy you talked about. I thought that was the Sam's club thing. Was it not?
ReplyDeleteWell set me straight because I thought that was what we talked about. Maybe next time I'll create a schedule so we cover more of the topics in the short amount of time we have at lunch.
Oh and thanks Melissa we'll discuss the garage sale with Lauren next meeting, when everyone has more info and we see who shows up and so on.
